Track Season…

Welcome Back!

(Warning!  Brag post!)

Jack has had a pretty kick ass track season this year. He put in some major work on the off season, so when track started he was actually in running shape for the first time and the hard work paid off for him…big time!

At one of the first meets, he got 6th in the 100 with a personal best, 13.68 and the chase was on to see how low he could get those numbers.
At the same meet, he WON the 200!  We were blown away!!

The next meet was a relays only meet. His relay team got two firsts and a HUGE 2nd in the 4×400.

It was the first time Jack ran a 400 (once around the track) and was the anchor for the relay team! At about the 300 mark, he stuttered a bit and I though, “Uh oh.” But then at the 75 mark, much to my HUGE surprise, he took off and sprinted to the finish line! What?! Where did that come from!?! So, for his first 400, he ran it in 1 minute 4 seconds! WOW!!
Jack’s smile sums up the evening.

The following week, Jack ran the 100 and the open 400 (not in a relay.)   He ran another PB in the 100 and this time ran the 400 in 1:02.60 and got fifth!! YAY!!  Fourth place was 1:02.56. It was a close finish and a great race!

At the AAU meet, Jack ran his best 100 yet in 13:04 which placed him in 5th place. He ran the 200 in 26.37. He wanted to run 27 flat and blew that away!

Last weekend we had the USATF meet at Iowa State, which is the state meet. Jack wanted to break 13 in the 100.  He had some really close and fun races. As you can see in the 100, it was a photo finish. Jack and his friend, Tyler, tied for second with a run of 12.84!! He met his goal of breaking 13!!!

Jack ended the weekend with a fifth in the 100 and a fourth in the 200!

I would say that is one hell of a good track season, Jack!

Notice each picture he is holding his spike bag over his shoulder..it became a tradition/superstition for Jack.  We all have them!
