Oh Deer It!

Welcome Back!

Most people struggle with rabbits eating their flowers. I struggle with deer and they are, unfortunately, winning.

I have a hastas that line the North side of our house. They are HUGE this year!

And then you see this…chopped down like celery.

No picture, but the deer went on to eat another one, another one and now they are all stalks.

Let’s head up to my flower bed. The deer will sit in it and break down the flowers along with other flowers as they walk through the garden.

And why not enjoy a treat of Flox while laying among the flowers!

What is so frustrating, is that there is a woods full of yummy treats for deer…10 feet away!

Mystery Plant

Good Morning!

I have a wonderful plant, but have no idea what it is!

In the morning, when I go out to water, it looks dead.
All closed up and brown.

In the afternoon, I look out and the flowers are all open and bright!

The flower actually feels fake, papery and straw like instead of a soft flower.

Any ideas on what it may be?

After a little research, I found that it is called a Strawflower. A fun flower that closes at night and then opens when the sunlight warms it! It’s a fun flower and a garden tough guy!

Here We Go Again!

Hello!

I’ve been rethinking my blog, AGAIN!…hence the no blog posts lately, due to not wanting to spend the time writing blog post, uploading pictures, editing pictures and then I read this….

First of all, I love to read blogs and look at posts on Instagram. My “go to” social media is definitely Instagram because I can see a post, read a sentence or two and off to the next picture. When I want more information, I will hit the link and head to the subjects blog to read a more detailed account of the picture. So, when I read an article about how people do not read blog posts anymore, I understand. I even skip long Facebook posts!!

So with that in mind, in the month of May, I am going to do somewhat of a ‘backwards” experiment. Each day, I am going to post only 1-2 pictures on my blog, with a few sentences…just a quick share. I understand that a blog post is for more detailed information and I should be posting these simple ones on Instagram with links…that might be in the works for the future. But, right now, I am working on getting my blog readers up to 15 consistent readers! Including my immediate (the boys) family!

While typing this, I asked Jack if HE read the blog. NOPE. So I bookmarked the link on his desktop on his i-pad. He started to read it, even took it to the restroom with him to catch up on his life happenings.

Congrats to me…up one reader…for now.

PS: I am one that has criticized people for posting their lives on Facebook and making it seem so happy and perfect. Then I think…wow, I have a BLOG about my family! The purpose for this blog was so the boys had a record of their silly childhood stories. The purpose remains the same, but also is going to encompass the family and my crafts and reading, too.

Another thing I am going to do is to try to keep it real (I do try hard to do that at this time.) Believe me, life and life with these boys is rocky, but many of the stories are theirs to share and not for me to share. I always check with the boys before posting about them. No more exaggeration according to Jack!

Finished Basement!

Hello!

The basement is a huge transformation for us and has become one of my favorite rooms in the house (second to my craft room!) It’s so nice and quiet in here and off by itself! Love it…as does Jack. He has slept down here since the basement has been finished and is dressing in the laundry room! Jeez…pretty cushy!

So here are some before and after pictures of the basement.

Took the steps out!

Next is the transformation of the north end of the basement. I am taking these pictures where the shelves from above are at. Notice, there is not door on the right side when we began this project.

Embarrassing picture of all the junk in our basement!

We cut the wall out on the right so we can have access to the other side of the basement.

Still need to do a few things down here, but the boys love disappearing to this room and that’s exactly why we created the space for!

Remodeling…Done!

Welcome Back!

Well, I can say that our remodeling project for the inside is considered done. Just a few last minute items such as doorknobs in the basement and hanging pictures, but overall i’ts finished and we are absolutely loving our new areas!!

Today, I am going to share the before and after pictures of the sunroom which is now the “rec-room” :)! My goal for this room is to keep it somewhat “manly” but still fit the theme of he rest of the house. We had a lot of basic changes completed such as painting, new windows, new trim and tile in the door way. The largest change was adding the “locker”area and putting distressed wood on the ceiling to cover the popcorn ceiling. Love!!

We also hung a barn door which I am just tickled about! It cuts down the noise from this room going through the entire lower level of the house!

The ceiling!

For the lower level, we are using our leather furniture until we figure out what we really want to do with this area, which is working out just fine!

Stop by tomorrow to see the transformation of our basement, AKA Jack’s new room!
