So Dreamy…

Hello!

While browsing Instagram, I run across posts of  wonderful pictures of stationary stores full of pens, paper and notebooks of all sorts. It is just so dreamy. I’ve always wanted to visit a store like that and SURPRISE! While in San Fran, our last day, I came across this amazing little store, Top Drawer.

What first caught my eye were all the markers and pens in rainbow order! So fun!! I purchased some Tombow markers: Play Color 2. They are the same as the Tombow brush markers, but come in bold and fine tip. It took Jack and I about 20 minutes to pick just the right colors to purchase.

And the notebooks…so dreamy! The softness of the paper was absolutely amazing! Even the boys said they didn’t realize paper could be so soft!  They had writing journals, watercolor journals to mixed media journals. All of them top notch and original.

We all spent some time exploring this little shop that has something for everyone! Must say, one of my favorite stops in Haight & Ashbury!

Happy Crafting!!

Hello, Fellow Crafters!

I like to be in my craft room. If you are a crafter, you understand. I must say, I am not the only one who enjoys the craftroom and nothing makes me happier than having people to craft with! It was well used over the holiday season!

My sisters enjoy the craftroom and laughter just adds to the fun!

My mom enjoys the craftroom…she is moving around so fast, making 80+ Christmas tree center pieces, you can’t spot her…but here are her trees!

And the newest member…

MY DAD!! (Love) while mom was busy cutting out 80+ trees, Dad used this fancy tool to fold the trees exactly in half.

The next morning I got up and had a big happy smile on my face!

Nothing better than a messy, well loved and used craft area!

Happy Planner Wk 1

Hello, Planner Peeps!

Today I am going to share with you my “scrapbook” for 2019…The Happy Planner.  I also used a Happy Planner in 2018 to record our stories, along with a few mini-albums (an upcoming post.) I really enjoyed this project and found myself losing track of time while working on my Happy Planner!!

(Side Note: October, November and December are not completed in my planner. I created mini-books for those months this year.)

This year I am using the large (8.5 x 11) Memory Keeping Happy Planner.

DELUXE Happy Memory Keeping™ Planners - BIG - Painted Memories

I picked this size for last year too,due to the size (I did a smaller one in 2017) which gave me more room for photos and journaling. I like that the pages are not number or labeled in any manner. If I want to switch order of pages or colors of boarders for the week, being unnumbered allows me that option.

To begin scrapbooking, I print my pictures for the week at home. I can usually fit everything on an 8.5 x 11 paper or two. I cut and paste them onto a word document and print on photo paper.

Next, I place the pictures onto the weekly layout.

Then my favorite part…journaling and adding stickers or other embellishments! I love to tell the little stories!

Looking forward to completing more pages this month and sharing them with all of you!

Happy Crafting!!

Finally!!!

Welcome Back!

I finished this super soft and cute baby blanket in October. I made it for a friend’s new little guy and I was so excited to give it to them! But, I am my own worst critic and started to focus on all the mistakes and uneven borders of the blanket and started to second guess my gift. This is not the first time. Many times I have created something and then run out to BUY a gift at the last minute due to my insecurities! (UGH!!)  I shared this with the gal’s mom who told me, “Just give it to her! She won’t care!!”

So last week, I finally gave the blanket to the little guy. (I know…2 months later…I have issues.) Soon, his mom sent me this picture…I was so happy when I saw B. loving his new blanket!  Isn’t he just the cutest thing!!

It’s the first time I have given one of my blankets to someone. Like I said, I am my own worst critic! But, this big, happy, cute smile just made my day and loved that he FINALLY got his gift!! 🙂

Another Group!

Hello!

I joined ANOTHER online group of scrapbooking group (seriously?) A 100 Days About Me.It is sponsored by RUKRISTIN, a feminist scrapbooker…scary!

The group sends you a prompt everyday and you create a scrap page, or any other page you would like, in any manner, to answer the questions. I am doing this, so my boys will have “basic” stories about me.

I am using one of my Carpe Diem planners to keep my About Me pages. Some pages I have put more thought into than others. Others, I am able to answer in one word, such as this page…

Got to love those pages that are short and to the point!

Making Cakes!

Welcome Back!

When feeding my yarn addiction, I have bought a few skeins that are not in balls or cakes. I guess it’s almost impossible to knit or crotchet with such a form of yarn.

So whom better to put on the case to spin my yarn into cakes? Jack!

He set up my loom and spinner (for lack of better descriptive words) and spun me some yarn cakes!

Perfect yarn cakes!

Now just have to finish my other 40 projects before I use this yarn for my next project: a stripe blanket!

Another New Craft

Hello!

Along with knitting, I’ve wanted to learn how to crochet. So, a friend of mine, with the utmost patience, taught me how to crochet!!

And I am loving it!! I love knitting, but I find crocheting so much easier and faster. I make fewer mistakes and when I do goof up, the mistakes are super easy to fix! 😊

This sounds goofy, but what I really like is the way the metal hook moves smoothly against and through the yarn…I actually find it relaxing! 😁

It’s the perfect little craft to do while watching TV…no counting or remembering what stitch I was doing (like in knitting) and no bunching of the yarn between needles!

Just what I needed for this last snowy weekend…binge watching Netflix, crocheting and eating.

Knitting Update…

Welcome Back!

I have found my new hobby, knitting,  relaxes me and helps me think. Well, with everything going on in the world, I have been knitting away!

My first “real” project is a scarf (What else would a new knitter knit?) and I have completed about a third of the wrap.

If you look closely, you can see a few oops! As I have read, beginner knitters are suppose to embrace their mistakes…they are gong to happen! So, just go with it!

So, I have embraced my mistakes: the holes, the loose stitches, the dropped stitches and a little lose yarn.

I am very excited about my progress and have tried to wrap the scarf around my neck. OH NO! The scarf was supper itchy due to the wool in the yarn. I can’t wear that…wool drives my skin crazy.

So, who’s going to be the lucky one to get a new wool scarf???

A “New” Craft…

Hello!

I have revived and old craft that I use to do and love when I was younger!
Counted Cross Stitch! It’s perfect for when we are watching TV (like football games) and I need to keep busy.  I decided to go with a geometric Cardinal pattern that caught my eye on Etsy.

So this…

(with all it’s flaws and miscounted stitches)

Will become this…

Hmmm.  If I hold mine far away and squint a little, I can see the resemblance…NAILED IT!
